Bobble Love Wall Hanging Crochet Pattern
What Is Being Made
The Bobble Love Wall Hanging is a decorative crochet piece designed to be displayed on a wall. This beginner-friendly project creates a textured wall decoration featuring prominent bobble stitches as the primary design element. The finished piece is mounted on a natural stick sourced from the garden, making it an eco-friendly and charming home accent suitable for various interior styles.
Crochet Techniques Used
This pattern employs fundamental crochet techniques accessible to beginners while incorporating decorative bobble stitch clusters as the signature design feature. The bobble stitch, worked with 5 double crochet clusters, creates dimensional texture and visual interest throughout the piece. The pattern utilizes basic foundation and row-based construction methods, building the wall hanging through successive rows of stitching.
Stitches and Abbreviations
The Bobble Love pattern uses the following crochet stitches in US terminology:
- Single crochet (sc) – forms the base structure and primary fabric
- Half double crochet (hdc) – provides additional stitch variety
- Slip stitch (ss) – joins rounds and secures stitches
- Chain (ch) – creates foundation and turning chains
- Bobble – the signature decorative stitch made from 5 double crochet clusters
The pattern also uses standard crochet abbreviations including rep (repeat), cont (continue), sp (space), and sk (skip) for concise written instructions.
Materials and Tools
The Bobble Love Wall Hanging requires minimal materials, making it an economical project:
- Yarn: 8ply cotton yarn is recommended by the designer, though the pattern is flexible and allows for yarn weight substitution. The designer notes that chunky yarn could be an interesting alternative to explore
- Hook: 3.50mm or 4.00mm crochet hook, with size selection depending on individual crochet tension (tight or loose)
- Stick: A natural stick sourced from the garden serves as the hanging rod
- Finishing tools: Scissors for yarn trimming and a darning or tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Pattern Overview
The pattern begins with a foundation of 47 stitches and progresses through rows of single crochet stitching with chain turning stitches between rows. The construction method allows crafters to build the wall hanging systematically, with the bobble stitch clusters integrated throughout to create the textured, dimensional effect that gives the design its name and visual appeal.
