Product Description

Baby Margaret is based on a character from the PBS Kids’ show “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.” She is Daniel’s little sister, and I’ve sized her to be in proportion with my Daniel Tiger stuffed toy. (Daniel is sold separately--check out my Love Crafts store for his pattern.) This pattern is purely fan art (flattery in its highest form), and is in no way associated with the TV series.

It helps to have some experience making amigurumi, but she is doable for a confident beginner. I’ve included lots of helpful step-by-step photos to (hopefully) ensure you have success with this pattern. If you can crochet in a continuous spiral using a magic ring and know basic stitches, you shouldn’t have any trouble. Her pink jacket is removable, so you can dress her up or down. She’s also a great stash buster since she doesn’t take much yarn! I used light brown yarn for her fur color since it’s what I had on hand, but if you’re able to find something a bit more orange-y, she’ll look even better.

Baby Margaret Tiger Stuffed Toy Crochet Pattern

What is Being Made

The Baby Margaret Tiger stuffed toy is an amigurumi-style crocheted plush character based on the PBS Kids' show "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood." This original pattern by Amber Romano creates a proportionally-sized stuffed toy designed to coordinate with other character toys in the series, such as the Daniel Tiger pattern also available from the designer. The finished toy is a three-dimensional, soft sculptural piece ideal for children and collectors of handmade character merchandise.

Craft and Primary Technique

This project uses crochet as the primary craft method. The pattern falls under the amigurumi category, which is the Japanese technique of crocheting small, stuffed toys and figurines. Amigurumi construction involves working in continuous rounds to create seamless, densely-packed fabric that holds its shape when filled with fiberfill stuffing. The designer notes that prior experience with amigurumi techniques is helpful, though the pattern is achievable for confident beginners with step-by-step photo guidance included throughout the 17-page instructions.

Stitches and Construction Methods

While specific stitch names are not detailed in the provided content, amigurumi patterns typically employ fundamental crochet stitches including single crochet for dense fabric construction, increases and decreases for shaping body parts, and slip stitches for joining rounds. The pattern uses continuous rounds to build three-dimensional forms for the tiger character's body, head, limbs, and facial features. The step-by-step photo instructions serve as visual guides for proper stitch execution and assembly techniques.

Materials: Yarn and Tools

This pattern is worked with aran or worsted weight yarn, both of which are medium-weight yarns suitable for creating defined stitch definition and appropriate fabric density for stuffed toys. A crochet hook sized appropriately for the selected yarn weight is required. Additional materials needed include fiberfill stuffing to fill the completed toy pieces and a yarn needle for weaving in ends and assembling the various crocheted components into the finished character.

Difficulty Level

The Baby Margaret Tiger pattern is rated at intermediate skill level. This classification reflects that the project requires foundational crochet knowledge and familiarity with amigurumi construction techniques. The designer acknowledges that some experience with stuffed toy making is beneficial for successful completion, though detailed photographic instructions throughout the pattern support crafters who are confident in their basic crochet abilities but may be newer to three-dimensional toy construction.
