Product Description

Loganberry Lamb has arrived just in time for Easter knits. He/she measures 11 inches or 28 cms. He is knitted flat on two straight needles and assembled, I have included a very detailed step by step assembly guide to help you create a sweet Loganberry.

The shoes are knitted on, to give him/her a quirky look, a little bit different. There are two outfits to chose from, rompers and frilly rompers if you would like a little girl.  I have included a list of suggested yarns on the pattern with an explanation of how they work up but there are lots of fuzzy/fleecy yarns to try.  The outfits are knitted in Double Knit, ideal for using up part leftover balls.

Loganberry Lamb Knitted Toy

Project Overview

The Loganberry Lamb is a charming knitted stuffed toy design by Pat Alinejad of Gypsycream. This beginner-friendly knitting project creates a soft, huggable lamb measuring approximately 11 inches (28 centimeters) from head to toe. The design is perfect for crafters new to toy making, combining simple techniques with detailed assembly guidance to produce a finished piece suitable as a gift or keepsake.

Construction Method

The Loganberry Lamb uses a modular knitting approach, with different body sections created separately and then assembled together. The feet, legs, and body are knitted as a single flat piece that forms the foundation of the toy. The head, ears, and arms are knitted separately, allowing crafters to work on manageable sections before sewing all components together. This construction method is ideal for beginners, as it breaks down the project into less complex stages and reduces the likelihood of mistakes in larger pieces.

Knitting Techniques and Stitches

While specific stitch details are referenced in the pattern itself, the Loganberry Lamb employs fundamental knitting techniques suitable for beginner-level crafters. The pattern utilizes standard flat knitting methods, where pieces are worked back and forth on needles rather than in the round. Assembly instructions are comprehensive and photo-illustrated, providing step-by-step guidance for sewing pieces together securely and shaping the toy into its finished form.

Yarn and Needle Requirements

The Loganberry Lamb is designed to work with chunky weight yarns, though the pattern accommodates several yarn options to suit different preferences and availability. Recommended yarn choices include Drops Alpaca Boucle, Wendy Eider, Peter Pan Precious, Phildar Phil Douce, Phildar Phil Nounours, Rico by Design Teddy Aran, and Sirdar Touch. These fuzzy and textured yarns create the soft, appealing appearance characteristic of a lamb toy. The pattern is worked on 3.5mm needles, which is notably small for chunky weight yarns, allowing for a tighter, more durable fabric suitable for a stuffed toy that will withstand handling and play. Contrast yarns are also incorporated into the design for details, though specific needle sizes for these are referenced in the full pattern instructions.

Pattern Support and Assembly

The downloadable PDF pattern includes exceptionally detailed assembly instructions with photographic references and helpful tips throughout. This comprehensive guidance makes the project accessible to knitters at all experience levels, ensuring successful completion even for those new to toy construction.
