Very easy to make. Looks great.
Product Description
We all know that sometimes we want a little more coverage, but in the summer that becomes a little more cumbersome. I've really been into designing fashionable clothing that's a little more comfy and loose fitting, offers that extra little bit of coverage and is still light and airy.
This pattern includes 10 pages written pattern and even a link to the video tutorial to make it as smooth as possible. Any questions you may come across in making this pattern will be answered inside, but if not feel free to message me. Happy crocheting :)

Crochet Kimono Cluster by KnitcroAddict
What Is Being Made
The Kimono Cluster is a crochet bolero-style garment designed by KnitcroAddict as a downloadable PDF pattern. This kimono is constructed from three separate crocheted pieces that are sewn together to create the finished garment. The pattern is available in multiple sizes ranging from women's XS/S through 4XL, making it accessible for various body types and fit preferences.
Construction Technique
This intermediate-level crochet project uses a modular construction method, with three distinct pieces crocheted separately before assembly. The pieces are then joined together through sewing, which allows for precise finishing and professional garment construction. This approach is common in crochet garment making as it simplifies the shaping process and makes it easier to achieve consistent sizing across multiple dimensions.
Stitches and Techniques Used
The Kimono Cluster pattern employs a variety of crochet stitches to create texture and structure:
- Chain stitch (ch) — the foundation stitch used to create the base of the work
- Single crochet (sc) — a basic short stitch for tight, dense fabric
- Slip stitch (sl st) — used for joining and creating seamless transitions between sections
- Treble crochet (tr) — a taller stitch created with two yarn overs, adding height and openness to the fabric
- Triple treble crochet (trtr) — an extra-tall stitch made with four yarn overs, creating dramatic drape and lace-like qualities
- 2 treble crochet cluster (2tr-cl) — a specialty cluster stitch that combines two treble stitches into a single stitch, creating decorative bobbles and textured elements
- V treble cluster stitch (v tr-cl) — an advanced variation that creates a V-shaped cluster by combining two treble clusters with chain spaces and slip stitches, all worked into the same stitch for dimensional detail
The pattern also uses standard crochet abbreviations including yarn over (YO), right side (rs), wrong side (ws), skip (sk), and repeat (rep) instructions.
Materials and Tools
The Kimono Cluster pattern is designed to be worked with fingering weight yarn, specifically demonstrated using Scheepjes Sunkissed in the colorway Strawberry Ice. Fingering weight yarn (also classified as 4-ply) is a thin, delicate yarn that creates refined, detailed fabric when worked with appropriate hook sizes. The pattern calls for approximately 185 yards (170 meters) per skein, though total yardage requirements may vary depending on the size being made.
Essential tools include a 4mm crochet hook, scissors for cutting yarn, a yarn needle for weaving in ends and sewing the pieces together, and stitch markers for tracking pattern repeats and shaping points. The use of stitch markers is particularly important in this pattern given the complexity of the cluster stitches and the need to maintain accurate stitch placement across the three separate pieces.
Skill Level
This pattern is rated as intermediate difficulty, making it suitable for crocheters with foundational skills who are ready to work with more complex stitches and garment construction techniques. The combination of specialty cluster stitches, multiple piece assembly, and sizing variations requires attention to detail and comfort with reading detailed crochet instructions.
