Thank you Jane 😊 Once you have the done the cast on it’s a great pattern for magic loop and the after thought heel very easy. . Just like working the toe once you slip your stitches back onto the needles. 😊

Great socks Jean, and well done for persevering with the unfamiliar. I’m not a lover of magic loop and so far I’ve avoided the after thought heel. But I really like the look of this pattern, so who knows? 🤔💕

@Jean F: I’ll certainly keep them in mind for when I’ve nothing else on my list! 🤔 😂
Thank you Helen 😊 Go for it. The cast on was definitely the hardest part for me, can’t say I’m that I completely comfortable with it, but it’s only a few stitches. Somehow got there with slowed down u tube in the end😂 The pattern does really work best I think on the the magic loop, did try my DPN’s at first , mistake especially with the cast on. Like you I’m not generally a lover of magic loop, finding it too fiddly and all that pulling through. But persevered with the first sock and by the end of it, it all just got easier, technique etc seemed to settle down. After though heel easy and pattern instructions very clear for this . 😊x

This all sounds so complicated. Well done you for sticking with it 💕
Thank you Julie 😊 Almost gave up on the cast on. 😂 but some how got there, with numerous videos and a slowed down utube in the end. ! Actually sort of got into magic loop a bit, I could never get my head round why it is so popular. But works really well with this pattern, and by end of first sock had sort of mastered my technique and tension 😊x

These socks are lovely Jean. I enjoyed your story. I like how you turned your sock making up side down from your usual 🙃 and found a new pattern challenging you to magic loop them and give them afterthought heels sounds so funny 🤣 but looks so good!! Lucky husband 🥰💕
Thank you Maria 😊. A learning curve for me ! 😂. Still not completely sure how I mastered the cast on 😂 on, definitely hardest part ! But did enjoy it in the end. Saw the pattern and just wanted to try it . Out of my comfort zone as been knitting the sock pattern for years !! 😂x

Great socks, well done for taking the challenge. 😍 I can't do magic loop or knitting in the round well, and it prevents me taking on patterns that I might try otherwise.
@Mary_B: 😂 worth knowing can do this ! Where would we be without the internet 😂😂 I like. my DPN’s but I think also can seem very fiddly until you get into them, I you do try don’t give up too soon. I dies get a lot easier , then 🤞piece of cake 😂😂

@Jean F: Thank you, that's encouraging to read Jean. There have been a few hurdles like that along my self taught knitting journey that I've just had to push through. Magic loop I found very fiddly maybe I need to try dpn's ... in the meantime I've cheated using AI 🫣 I like Louise Crowther's knitted animals and dolls but most of the gorgeous clothes are knitted in the round. I uploaded the pattern to chatgpt to convert into back and forth ... so 🤞😆
Thank you Mary 😊 A few years ago I got thrown in at the deep end when I ordered a pattern and wool. When it arrived was in the round 😱 at first but got there in the end, my favoured way now ! 😊. Never liked magic loop too fiddly and all that pulling through, couldn’t get on with it , surprisingly though after doing the full first sock it all just seemed to get easier 😂 So don’t be put off if you really like a pattern go for it . Best part no sewing up !

They look great, it’s always very satisfying when you master new techniques and they are a perfect fit.

I always do magic loop but never done toe-up or afterthought heel? Well done for trying something new!
