Budgie Bird Hat
My husband asked me to make this for his grandma's 90th birthday. His grandma was always referred to as "grandma budgie" when he was growing up because she kept budgies. Sadly he only gave me 48 hours notice and I had no pattern so had to make a quick decision. I used the st number/shaping as the california poppies hat i did recently (128 sts DK yarn and 10 rows rib to start) for the size. I then found a melting beads pattern for a pair of budgies and used this to make an intarsia pattern. I changed the grey on the blue budgie for black as the grey was too similar to the mauve background. Will include a photo. Adapted a leaf chart pattern as upper half from pacific knit co website from their botanical set. Trouble linking yarns to project again so yarns not linked but used include james brett top value DK -azure, and stylecraft special DK in cypress, Bottle, Lobelia, royal, saffron, white, black
