My son is a swimming coach. Whilst I was recently making my Rainbow Ripple blanket I kept thinking how it would make a perfect Swimming Pool if made in shades of blue. So I decided to create a 'Pool' blanket for him as a moving in gift for his new flat. For a bit of fun I decided to use variegated yarn - Yarnsmiths Lagoon - in 5 colourways and chose the chunky version to make it a bit more robust and boysy. The chunky has far fewer colour options than the DK, but I noticed that the 100g DK ball had the same yardage as the 200g Chunky, so I reckoned that crocheting 2 strands together would match the chunky - and it did, allowing me an extra shade - in fact several shades as I could combine the two differently.
