The Stumptown Collection consists of three patterns: this shawlette, written for both Victory DK and Victory Fingering, the Stumptown Cowl, also written for both Victory DK and Victory Fingering, and the Stumptown Socks, written for Victory Sock. Knitting Techniques and Stitches
The Stumptown Shawlette employs fundamental shawlette construction techniques suitable for advanced beginners. The pattern incorporates increasing techniques to shape the shawl's silhouette and mesh lace stitches to create openwork details characteristic of elegant shawlette designs. The primary stitch used is stockinette stitch, which forms the base fabric and is used as the gauge measurement standard. The combination of these stitches creates a garment that balances accessibility with visual interest.
Difficulty Level
Classified as advanced beginner skill level, the Stumptown Shawlette is designed for knitters who have mastered basic techniques and are ready to expand their skills. The inclusion of increasing and mesh lace work provides an excellent introduction to shawlette construction without overwhelming newer knitters.
