Product Description

This is a pattern for a tiny sheep! It's only 1" long! It's a member of Oh, so tiny! Collection.

Oh, so tiny! Collection has been created especially for those who (like me) love tiny things. It consists of eight cute animals: elephant, giraffe, rabbit, owl, sheep, reindeer, bear and turtle. Each amigurumi is not larger than 1.5" (2,5cm) high, sitting.

Why so tiny? Because small is beautiful. And tiny is cute. Plus, being that tiny they can double as a key ring, stitch marker or even an earring.

Can you go even smaller? Well, of course you can! I designed them to be tiny enough to be smaller than usual amis and big enough to be relatively easy to make. You can also try making the animals from these patterns with the thinnest thread and tiniest hook you can find and they’ll be even smaller.

Oh, so tiny! Sheep – Crochet Amigurumi Pattern

What Is Being Made

This is a miniature crocheted sheep toy designed by Justyna Kacprzak, measuring just 1 inch in length. The finished amigurumi is a tiny, stuffed soft toy perfect for collectors, dollhouse decorations, or as small handmade gifts. Despite its diminutive size, the sheep features distinct body parts and facial details that bring the design to life.

Craft and Technique

Primary Craft: Crochet

The sheep is constructed using the amigurumi technique, a method of crocheting small, three-dimensional stuffed toys. The pattern is worked in continuous rounds, meaning you crochet in a spiral without joining rounds or turning your work. This creates a seamless, organic shape ideal for tiny toys. Crafters can use a stitch marker to track the beginning of each round, or simply count stitches as they progress through the pattern.

Due to the extremely small finished size, traditional stuffing is minimal. Instead, the designer recommends using the long tail threads left over from sewing body parts together—a resourceful approach that eliminates waste while achieving proper shaping and structure.

Stitches Used

  • Chain (ch) – Foundation stitch for starting the pattern
  • Single Crochet (sc) – The primary stitch used throughout the toy
  • Increase (inc) – Worked as 2 single crochets in 1 stitch to expand the shape
  • Decrease (dec) – Single crochet 2 together to reduce stitches and shape the toy

Materials and Tools

Yarn: The pattern calls for 100% acrylic yarn or cotton thread in light fingering or 3-ply and 4-ply weights. Small amounts of gray and white yarn are needed to create the sheep's body and woolly appearance.

Hook Size: A 1.5mm crochet hook is recommended for achieving the tiny finished dimensions. Alternatively, a 1.75mm hook may be used if the 1.5mm feels too small to work with comfortably; using the larger hook will result in a slightly bigger finished amigurumi.

Notions and Embellishments:

  • 2 small black seed beads for eyes
  • Black embroidery floss or black thread for facial details
  • Optional: French knots can be embroidered instead of beads if seed beads are unavailable

Difficulty Level

This pattern is rated as intermediate difficulty. While the stitches themselves are basic, working with such a small scale and maintaining consistent tension requires some crochet experience. Familiarity with amigurumi techniques and the ability to work neatly in tiny rounds will help ensure success.
