Besurt Hat

Besurt is the Catalan name for one of my favorite trees, the rowan, also called mountain-ash and rowan-berry. In my childhood, that patchwork of memories, there is a very special place for the hours spent on the small swing that hung from the branches of a rowan tree close to my grandma's house. She would swing me, tell me stories or give me my first knitting lessons under the red berries and lighted foliage of that magnificent tree.

The hat is knitted in the round from the brim upwards on a short circular needle. Switch to double-pointed needles when needed or use the magic-loop technique using a longer cable.

This hat features a deep brim in 1x1 ribbing that is worn folded back.
