Product Description
This newest design arose from a year of learning to live my life untamed. After listening to Glennon Doyle’s bestselling book “Untamed” the minute it was released (and several times since then), I’ve spent the majority of this past year practicing loving myself just as I am. This means learning and accepting that I am whole and worthy as is, letting go of the expectations of others and of myself that no longer serve me for who I am and want to be, accepting that practicing self-care and self-love is not selfish but essential, teaching my children by being a model and not a martyr, and even honoring that it is ok and appropriate, even critical, to disappoint everyone else in the world before disappointing yourself when it allows you to be your truest self.
The Untamed Beanie by Kelly2Creations
What is Being Made
The Untamed Beanie is a crochet hat designed by Kelly Kelly of Kelly2Creations. This beanie is available in multiple sizes ranging from extra small (XS) through medium (M), making it a versatile project suitable for various head sizes. The pattern offers design flexibility with optional styling choices, including versions with and without a folded brim, allowing crafters to customize their finished hat to personal preference.
Craft and Techniques
This project is created using the crochet technique, a fiber arts method that uses a single hook to form interlocking loops of yarn. Crochet is known for its versatility and relative ease of learning, making it an excellent choice for crafters of all skill levels. The Untamed Beanie is classified as a beginner-level project, meaning it is designed to be accessible to those new to crochet while still producing a polished, wearable finished product.
Stitches and Construction
While the complete stitch breakdown is not detailed in the provided content, the pattern employs fundamental crochet stitches appropriate for hat construction. The beanie can be made in two variations: a simple version without a brim for a classic fitted look, or with a folded brim for added warmth and style. This design flexibility demonstrates thoughtful pattern construction that accommodates different aesthetic preferences and seasonal needs.

- Small (S): 180 yards (approximately 1 skein)
- Medium (M): 215 yards (approximately 1 skein)
Yarn Choice and Benefits
The recommended Sew Happy Jane Delightful DK yarn offers excellent qualities for hat construction. The Superfine Superwash Merino fiber provides natural warmth and breathability while the superwash treatment makes the finished beanie easy to care for through machine washing. The DK weight creates a fabric with good drape and structure, ideal for achieving a beanie that maintains its shape while remaining comfortable to wear. The color options shown in the pattern photographs include Plum Dandy and Forest, demonstrating how different colorways can dramatically change the finished beanie's appearance.

The Untamed Beanie is provided as a downloadable PDF pattern, allowing immediate access upon purchase. This format is convenient for digital reference while working on the project.
