About the Inspiration
Flapper, originally named Monsieur Flappeur, is a European house rabbit from Paris who inspired this knitting design. The pattern recreates his appearance as a tiny baby rabbit with impressive accuracy. House rabbits belong to the order Lagomorpha—a distinct classification separate from rodents—and represent one of over 300 domestic breeds available worldwide. With more than half of all rabbits globally residing in North America, these fluffy creatures have become beloved pets across diverse climates, from swamps and marshes to forests, deserts, mountains, and even volcanic regions.
Knitting Techniques and Construction
This beginner-level knitting project employs straightforward techniques suitable for newer knitters while producing a charming three-dimensional toy. The pattern uses fundamental knitting stitches to build the rabbit's body, head, and distinctive features. The construction method allows crafters to create a recognizable house rabbit form that captures both anatomical accuracy and personality.
Materials and Yarn
The House Rabbit Flapper pattern was created using Lana Grossa 365 Cashmere yarn in color number 12. The pattern accommodates varied yarn weights, offering flexibility for knitters to substitute alternative yarns while maintaining the intended finished size and appearance.
