Techniques and Construction

The Gunflint pattern employs fundamental knitting techniques appropriate for intermediate-level crafters. The construction relies on charted stitch patterns combined with written instructions, utilizing stitch markers to track pattern repeats throughout the project. Knitters will work with standard decreases including knit two together (k2tog), knit three together (k3tog), and the slip-slip-knit (ssk) decrease method, as well as the more advanced slip one, knit two together, pass slipped stitch over (sl1, k2tog, psso) technique. Materials and Gauge

Each skein contains 478 yards and weighs 250 grams. Knitters will need Size 9/5.5mm knitting needles to achieve the correct gauge. The pattern specifies two different gauges depending on the stitch section: the body chart should measure 18 stitches and 20 rows over 4 inches of pattern, while the half twist rib should measure 20 stitches and 20 rows over 4 inches. Three to seven optional stitch markers are highly recommended to track pattern repeats and maintain accuracy throughout the project, and a tapestry needle is essential for seaming and finishing work.
