Glory to GOD
Silent night, holy night All is calm, all is bright
Yep this is the inspiration of my pattern. You are surprised Right. Why is there no emoji here. Alright here i go ' He He He' .
I love Calligraphy even though my handwriting is bad.
So i have been working in this same pattern for two weeks now. I completed my first pillow using Nako Sport wool last week. Thought of uploading it but couldn't as it was not perfect. So i selected calico. I love calico yarn because it is soft and doesn't fray easily. So i work with two strands of yarn at the same time that is why 4.5mm hook.
The finished pillow size is 15 inches * 14 inches.
The pattern consists of a descriptive written pattern and a graph, so that you can incorporate this particular piece in any of you projects,

Holy Night Deco Pillow by Lura Aromot
Project Overview
The Holy Night Deco Pillow is an intermediate-level crochet cushion design created by designer Lura Aromot. This downloadable PDF pattern provides instructions for crafting a decorative holiday pillow using the crochet technique with a double knit yarn weight and a color-blocked design approach.
What Is Being Made
This project results in a finished decorative pillow suitable for Christmas decor. The pillow is constructed as a flat crocheted panel that showcases color work and is intended to be stuffed and sewn into a cushion form. The design incorporates multiple yarn colors to create visual interest and festive appeal for seasonal home decoration.
Crochet Techniques and Methods
The Holy Night Deco Pillow employs a straightforward crochet technique centered on single crochet stitches worked in rows. The pattern utilizes a color-blocking method where different yarn colors are introduced at specific points to build the design. The designer works with two strands of yarn held together simultaneously to achieve the desired fabric density and appearance, which is an effective technique for creating structured, stable cushion panels.
Stitches Used
- Single Crochet: The primary and only stitch used throughout the entire pattern, worked consistently in rows to build the pillow panel
- Chain Stitch: Used to establish the foundation row with 124 chains
- Slip Stitch: Used to join the chain foundation into a working circle or to join rows as needed
Materials and Yarn Specifications
The pattern calls for a 4.5mm crochet hook as the primary tool. The recommended yarn is Nako Calico, a double knit weight yarn composed of a 50% cotton and 50% acrylic blend, which provides durability and a pleasant drape suitable for home decor items.
Specific Yarn Colors and Quantities:
- Nako Calico Denim (CL6614): 50 grams
- Nako Calico Black (CL208): 300 grams (primary color)
- Nako Calico Orchid (CL10879): 50 grams
The total yardage required is 245 meters or 267 yards. The designer notes that yarn substitutions are acceptable; the pattern has been successfully tested with Nako sport wool as an alternative. When substituting yarns, adjusting the crochet hook size to match the new yarn's weight specifications is recommended.
Gauge and Construction Details
The pattern establishes a gauge of 4 single crochet stitches per inch, which ensures the finished pillow reaches the intended dimensions. The foundation chain consists of 124 stitches, providing a substantial width for the cushion panel. Since the designer works with two strands of yarn held together for each single crochet stitch, this doubling technique creates a thicker, more structured fabric ideal for a decorative pillow that will maintain its shape after stuffing.
Finishing Materials
Beyond the yarn and hook, the pattern requires polyester stuffing or fiberfill to fill the completed pillow form, and a yarn needle for sewing the crocheted panel closed after stuffing and assembly. These finishing materials ensure a professional, polished final product.
Difficulty Level
Rated as an intermediate project, this pillow is suitable for crocheters with foundational skills in single crochet and basic color work. The straightforward stitch selection and row-by-row construction make it accessible to crafters progressing beyond beginner patterns, while the color-blocking technique adds visual complexity without requiring advanced stitch knowledge.
