TR2TOG: How to treble crochet decrease

The treble crochet decrease (tr2tog) is a method of decreasing your crochet stitches (also known as dc2tog in the US). If your pattern uses treble crochet stitches and you need to reduce the number of stitches to add shape to your work, the tr2tog will be what you need! From hats, socks, gloves and other garments, this is a great beginner stitch to learn! Follow along with our step-by-steps to learn how to double crochet decrease.

Yarn over. Insert your crochet hook into the next stitch.

Yarn over. Pull yarn through stitch. You should now have 3 loops on your crochet hook.

Yarn over. Pull hook through 2 loops. You should now have 2 loops on your hook.
4
Yarn over. Insert your crochet hook into the next stitch.
5
Yarn over. Pull yarn through stitch. You should now have 4 loops on your crochet hook.
6
Yarn over. Pull hook through 2 loops. You should now have 3 loops on your crochet hook.
7
Yarn over. Pull hook through last 3 loops.
