I love this heart pattern and have made the standard version of it before, but wondered what it might look like in variegated yarn. I have a large collection of Yarnsmiths Lagoon DK, so - in a Kaffe Fasset moment - pulled out all the jewel coloured shades and started working them together. The long colour changes fitted pretty well across the heart rows. I'm actually very pleased with how it all came together. And it looks so different from the original. I was making it for my daughter's 30th birthday and recalling that my previous version was 30 hearts wide, thought that it would be appropriate for the occasion. In the end, however, I decided it needed an extra 2 hearts to give it a bit of extra width (but I haven't told her that, and I bet she doesn't count them!) Sorry - hard to photograph on No Mow May lawn!
