Winter Weekend Socks are cozy knitted socks designed for relaxation and comfort during lazy weekends at home. These socks combine warmth and style, making them perfect for casual wear while playing with kids or pets, reading, or enjoying other leisure activities. The design features decorative cable details paired with practical contrast-color ribbing for a polished finish.

What Is Being Made

This pattern creates a pair of knitted socks in three size options: Small, Medium, and Large. The finished socks feature a 6-inch leg length with foot circumferences ranging from 6.5 to 8 inches and foot lengths from 8.75 to 10.5 inches, accommodating various foot sizes. The socks are designed to be worn as everyday comfort footwear, combining functionality with aesthetic appeal.

Knitting Techniques

Winter Weekend Socks employ several intermediate-level knitting techniques that add visual interest and structural integrity to the finished garment. The pattern utilizes cable knitting, a decorative technique where stitches are crossed over one another to create raised, twisted patterns that run down the sides of the socks. This technique requires the use of a cable needle to temporarily hold stitches while working the crossing maneuver.

The yarn is available in two colorways for this pattern: Mulberry serves as the main color (MC), while Gravity functions as the contrast color (CC) for the ribbed sections. Each color requires one ball of yarn, with each ball containing 200 yards (180 meters) and weighing 114 grams.

The pattern accommodates both worsted and aran yarn weights, allowing crafters flexibility in yarn selection while maintaining the intended gauge and fit. The recommended gauge is 22 stitches and 30 rows per 4 inches (10 centimeters) when working stockinette stitch in the round on the larger needles, after blocking.

Needles and Tools
