Product Description
This is a pdf downloadable knitting pattern, written in English, using standard US terminology, for you to knit a DK weight, Tiffany Baby Bonnet photo prop in sizes preemie to one year (plus instructions for your 18” doll, as well).
This bonnet offers beautiful texture around the body of the bonnet which photographs really well. And, while the stitch looks intricate, it really isn’t: just a simple, two row repeat. Knit flat, then seamed.
Please always remember to use this prop with supervision as this sweet hat does have ties.
Also, this is a fabulous addition to your favourite 18” doll’s wardrobe and would be a gift that anyone who enjoys dolls would absolutely love! please note: Lily B’s is not affiliated in any way with the American Girl, Our Generation, or Journey Girl brands (I have my own collection that I enjoy knitting for)

Tiffany Bonnet by Catherine Anfield
What is Being Made
The Tiffany Bonnet is a charming knitted doll bonnet designed by Catherine Anfield of Lily B's. This pattern offers multiple size options, including an 18" doll bonnet measuring approximately 4.5" deep by 5" wide, and a preemie bonnet option. The bonnet features classic styling suitable for vintage-inspired doll clothing or newborn photography props. The design includes i-cord ties for secure fastening.
Skill Level and Project Scope
This is an intermediate beginner knitting project, making it accessible to knitters with some foundational experience who are ready to tackle slightly more complex construction techniques. The pattern requires approximately 69 meters or 75 yards of yarn to complete, including the decorative i-cord ties.
Knitting Techniques Used
The Tiffany Bonnet employs several key knitting techniques that elevate it beyond basic projects. Knitters will work with i-cord construction, a technique that creates neat, tubular cord elements perfect for bonnet ties. The pattern incorporates shaping techniques necessary for creating the bonnet's three-dimensional form and proper fit around a doll's head or preemie's face.
Yarn and Materials
This pattern calls for DK weight yarn, a versatile medium-weight yarn that provides excellent stitch definition while remaining lightweight enough for delicate doll clothing. The modest yardage requirement of approximately 75 yards makes this an ideal project for using yarn scraps or small quantities from your stash. Appropriate knitting needles for DK weight yarn are required, along with basic tools for weaving in ends and assembling the bonnet components.
Pattern Details
The Tiffany Bonnet pattern was originally copyrighted in 2015 and has been updated as recently as February 2025, ensuring current knitting standards and clarity. This downloadable PDF pattern is designed for personal use and allows crafters to sell finished items made from the pattern, supporting independent designers and small makers.
