What is Being Made

The Lullaby Shawl is a circular, light, and soft lacy shawl designed to become a family heirloom. This knitted shawl features traditional lace stitches and measures approximately 102cm (40 inches) in diameter when completed.

Construction Method and Techniques

This shawl is knitted in the round from the centre outward, creating a circular construction. The pattern employs the circular cast-on method, sometimes known as Emily Ocker's method, which allows for seamless center-out construction. The lace instructions are provided in both charted and written formats, giving knitters flexibility in how they prefer to follow the pattern.

Stitches Used

The Lullaby Shawl incorporates traditional lace stitches throughout the design. The gauge is measured at 28 stitches and 34 rows per 10cm (4 inches) in Stocking Stitch using 3.5mm needles, providing a reference point for tension and finished dimensions.

Materials and Yarn

Yarn: Cascade Heritage Solids in 4ply weight. The yarn composition is 75% superwash merino and 25% nylon, offering both softness and durability. The recommended colorway is Strawberry Cream (5648). Approximately 245 grams or 980 metres (1070 yards) of yarn is required to complete this project.
