Product Description

The inspiration behind this pattern was pioneering aviatrix, Louise Thaden, who won the first Women’s Air Derby (in 1929), and was the first woman to win the Bendix Trophy (in 1936, the first year women could compete against men). Thaden had a wonderful sense of style and frequently wore neckwear.

This shawl has a scalene triangle shape and features an asymmetrical border design. It works equally well as a scarf or shawl. The use of several different simple stitch patterns make this design perfect for a hand dyed yarn because the stitch patterns are subtle enough to let the yarn shine.

Skills Used Basic crochet stitches: chain, single crochet, double crochet, slip stitch Crocheting in rows Crocheting in the round Increasing Decreasing (dc2tog and dc5tog with written explanation in pattern) Special stitch (crossed double crochet with written explanation in pattern)

This pattern uses U.S. abbreviations.
