Product Description
Texo (Latin word for ‘weave, twine together’) is a take on the traditional crewneck pullover with a cabled pouch added for extra warmth for the hands. The cabled pouch adds interest and texture to the otherwise plain pullover. The i-cord edges on the pouch give it a neat finishing touch.
The pouch is knit as you go, so there are no seams to sew. Icord edges for the pouch are knit later. The double knit hem keeps the bulky pouch from rising up.
The top-down seamless construction makes this an ideal pullover to try it on as you go and also to modify the body and sleeves length.
NeedlesUS 5 (3.75 mm) circular needles for body and sleeves. US 7 (4.5 mm) flat needles, or two sizes up from the needle with which you obtained gauge, for the pouch
Cabled pouch is written and charted. The pouch might look too small while knitting, but it should stretch while blocking.

What is Being Made
The Texo Pullover is a contemporary take on the classic crewneck pullover sweater, designed by Anjali M. The garment features a distinctive cabled pouch addition positioned for extra hand warmth, transforming a traditional pullover silhouette into a functional and textured piece. The name references the Latin word "Texo," meaning "weave" or "twine together," reflecting the construction philosophy of the design. This is an advanced-level knitting project suitable for experienced knitters looking to expand their technique repertoire.
Construction Method and Techniques
The Texo Pullover utilizes top-down seamless construction, a technique that allows knitters to try on the garment as they progress and make real-time adjustments to fit. This method eliminates the need for seaming, resulting in a cleaner finish and greater flexibility for customization. The seamless approach is particularly valuable for modifying body length and sleeve length to achieve a personalized fit.
The cabled pouch is a key design feature that adds both visual interest and textural depth to the otherwise streamlined pullover body. The pouch edges are finished with i-cord edging, a technique that creates a neat, professional-looking border and adds structural integrity to the pouch opening.
Stitches and Stitch Techniques
This pattern employs cable stitches as the primary decorative element, concentrated in the pouch section. The main body is worked in stockinette stitch, providing a smooth, classic canvas that allows the cabled pouch to stand out as the focal point. The i-cord edging technique is used to finish the pouch perimeter, creating a refined detail that elevates the overall construction quality.
Yarn and Materials
The Texo Pullover is designed to be worked in DK weight yarn, specifically using Knit Picks Swish DK, which is composed of 100% Superwash Merino Wool. This fiber choice provides softness, breathability, and easy-care properties due to the superwash treatment. The yardage requirements vary by size, ranging from 350 yards for the smallest chest size (20 inches) to 1000 yards for the largest size (31.5 inches).
Needles and Tools
The pattern calls for multiple needle sizes and types to accommodate the seamless top-down construction method. Knitters will need US 5 (3.75mm) circular needles and US 5 (3.75mm) double-pointed needles (DPNs), both sized to obtain the correct gauge. Additionally, US 7 (4.5mm) flat needles are recommended for ribbing, sized two sizes up from the gauge needles to create the proper elasticity for cuff and waistband sections.
Essential notions include a darning needle for weaving in loose ends, stitch holders for managing stitches during construction, and stitch markers for tracking pattern repeats and shaping increases or decreases.
Gauge and Sizing
The pattern specifies a gauge of 19 stitches and 24 rows over 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette stitch. Achieving this gauge is critical for proper fit and is essential before beginning the project. The Texo Pullover is available in seven sizes, with finished chest measurements ranging from 20 inches to 31.5 inches, accommodating a wide range of body types and fit preferences.
Difficulty Level
This is an advanced-level pattern that requires proficiency with seamless knitting techniques, cable work, and the ability to make modifications during construction. The top-down method demands understanding of increases for shaping and the ability to work with multiple needle types simultaneously. Knitters should be comfortable reading charts, managing multiple stitch types, and troubleshooting fit as they progress through the project.
