Swallowtail Square

The Swallowtail Square is a sweet little 8x8”/20 x 20 cm afghan block featuring a richly textured butterfly cable motif on a seed stitch background. This square would make a magnificent blanket all on its own or alternated with stockinette squares, but would be equally at home adorning the corners of a simple blanket or pillow cover.

The pattern includes both written and charted instructions (charts in the PDF only).

Level: Intermediate. Uses cables involving both knit and purl stitches.

Yardage: approx. 54-65 yd worsted/aran (4) weight yarn. Use a different weight yarn with appropriate needles to make a different sized square.
