Product Description
This pattern is inspired by the beautiful abundance of Spring Blossom I’ve seen this year.
A really quick little make with minimal ends to sew in!
The pattern has a step by step photo tutorial and is written in US crochet terminology.
Perfect pattern for a confident beginner and provides an opportunity to practice slip stitches, front post double crochet, crochet through the back loop and double crochet two together (decrease stitch).
This pattern is perfect for a bit of stash busting, however I used Paintbox Simply Cotton DK in the photo which created a beautiful stitch definition.
Spring Blossom Hexagon Crochet Blanket
What is Being Made
The Spring Blossom Hexagon is a modular crochet blanket project composed of hexagon motifs that can be joined together to create a finished throw or blanket. This design by Eleri Schofield is ideal for crafters looking to create a versatile home accessory that can be customized in size by adjusting the number of motifs made and joined. The hexagon shape allows for creative color combinations and makes this project particularly suitable for stash busting—using up leftover yarn from previous projects.
Techniques and Construction
This crochet blanket project utilizes a motif-based construction method, where individual hexagon shapes are crocheted separately and then joined together to form the complete blanket. This modular approach offers flexibility in the final dimensions of your finished piece. The pattern is written using US crochet terminology and is specifically designed with beginner crocheters in mind. The construction technique allows makers to work on portable, manageable pieces that can be completed in stages and assembled into a larger finished project.
Crochet Stitches Used
The Spring Blossom Hexagon pattern incorporates basic crochet stitches suitable for beginners who have foundational crochet knowledge. While the PDF content does not specify individual stitch names in detail, the pattern is accessible to anyone who can read a crochet pattern and execute fundamental crochet stitches. This beginner-friendly approach makes the project an excellent choice for developing crochet skills through a practical, wearable finished object.
Materials: Yarn and Tools
The Spring Blossom Hexagon can be made using any yarn weight, though yarn choice will directly affect the final size of your blanket. The pictured examples in the pattern were created using Paintbox Simply Cotton Double Knit yarn, which is a light worsted weight yarn, in the colorways ballet pink and vanilla cream. This cotton yarn choice provides a breathable, summery quality appropriate for the spring-themed design. The pattern is particularly versatile for color work—it looks striking made entirely in one main color with a contrasting color used for the border, or in multi-color combinations for a scrappy stash-busting aesthetic. You will need an appropriate crochet hook sized for your chosen yarn weight to complete this project.
