Product Description
Josy = Jar Cosy*
This patterns include both UK and US terminology as well as information on all the yarn and tools you will need to make these projects. They are relatively easy to make and look great on a Christmas themed windowsill or bookcase! I like to keep buttons and stationery in mine, but you can use yours for whatever you want! (Maybe the secret sweetie stash?)
For these patterns I used Willow and Lark Ramble yarn which is incredibly soft and has a beautiful texture to it. There is an ever-growing range of colours to choose from too!
This josy fits a 12.5cm (Height) by 6.5cm (Diameter) jar. I used Dolmio sauce jars that I had thoroughly washed out, but the size doesn’t have to be completely accurate as the josies do stretch genorously.

Reindeer Josy Crochet Pattern
What is Being Made
Reindeer Josy is a crocheted decorative reindeer amigurumi-style project designed by Kayleigh's Creative World. This finished piece measures approximately 12.5cm in height with a 6.5cm diameter, making it a small, charming handmade craft suitable for seasonal decoration or gift-giving.
Craft and Techniques
This is a crochet project classified as intermediate difficulty, making it suitable for crafters with some foundational crochet experience. The pattern uses the magic ring technique to begin construction and employs continuous rounds throughout the design. Stitches are worked in the back loop only (BLO) in certain sections to create texture and definition. The pattern is written in both UK and US crochet terminology, with US terms provided in square brackets for international crafters.
Crochet Stitches Used
The Reindeer Josy pattern incorporates the following crochet stitches:
- Single crochet (sc) – fundamental stitch for building structure
- Half double crochet (hdc) – medium-height stitch for varied texture
- Double crochet (dc) – taller stitch for efficient coverage
- Half treble crochet (htr) – additional height variation
- Treble crochet (tr) – tall stitch for specific design elements
- Slip stitch (sl st) – used selectively to join rounds as directed
- Single crochet 2 together (sc2tog) – decreasing technique for shaping
- Double crochet 2 together (dc2tog) – alternative decreasing method
- Chain (ch) – foundational stitch for starting rows and creating spaces
Materials Required
This pattern requires DK weight yarn in two colors from specific yarn brands:
- Willow and Lark Brown (132) – Yarn A – 1 x 50g ball
- Ramble Red (111) – Yarn B – 1 x 50g ball
Additional materials include a 4mm crochet hook, a stitch marker for tracking round beginnings, a darning needle for weaving in ends, and scissors for cutting yarn. The pattern notes emphasize placing a stitch marker in the first stitch of every round when working continuously, and specifies that rounds should not be joined with slip stitch unless the pattern explicitly states otherwise.
Pattern Notes and Construction Details
The Reindeer Josy pattern begins with a magic ring foundation and chains 1 before commencing Round 1 with double crochet stitches. The continuous round method is employed throughout, requiring consistent stitch marker placement to identify round beginnings.
