Rainbow Connection

This scarf is inspired by the frog himself and by the words of the song Rainbow Connection, made famous by Kermit and his banjo in The Muppet Movie.

Rainbow Connection is knitted in fingering weight yarn with a smattering of beads. The original uses a pure alpaca yarn, hand dyed to a perfect shade of Kermit - and all the colours of the rainbow. Of course, despite the name, you can knit Rainbow Connection in just one of the colours of the rainbow.

This pattern is fully charted and also includes full written instructions. The length of the scarf can be adjusted by adding or removing repeats of the lace patterns.

The scarf is knitted in two halves and grafted together at the back neck. It uses three different lace patterns, drawn from the words of the song. The first pattern represents Kermit’s froggy feet, dangling in star-spangled waters. It is lightly beaded and this gives a little weight and sparkle to the tips of the scarf.
