Oval Basket

This oval crochet basket is made with T-shirt yarn, and works up very quickly and easily.

The finished item makes a beautiful and useful container in which to store books or toys (in a kiddie’s playroom or bedroom), or hand towels, face cloths, or toilet paper (in a bathroom).

A basket of approximately 25 cm in length, 20 cm width, and 17 cm in height/depth, will use between one and two 500 g skeins of T-shirt yarn. Fewer or more rounds can be worked (for both the base, as well as the sides) to obtain baskets of different sizes.

The only additional material required is a large-eye needle, with which to weave in the ends.

Two crochet hook sizes (10.00 mm and 12.00 mm) have been suggested for this written pattern (in US terms), as the particular weight of T-shirt yarn may vary from skein to skein. Use a crochet hook that doesn’t cause the stitches to be too loose, or too tight.
