You can achieve marled effects yourself by holding two, three or more strands together. Combining two strands of yarn together is very typical but if you have thin yarns, you can put more strands. Options are endless. Make sure to adjust needle size to obtain the correct gauge. The pattern comes with written instructions and pictures showing how to work horizontal inset pockets.
