Product Description
Is it chilly in the office? Need the perfect layer to compliment a pretty dress? Ideal for gift-giving (even for teens!) and a great way to use up a few lone skeins of that special yarn, this fun, fast knit will be your go-to when you’re looking for an easy project with a sophisticated result.
This shrug is constructed in an unusual manner. It is knit from the top down, from the back neck and shoulders to the underarms. The sleeve stitches are then put on hold and the back stitches are worked together with stitches picked up along each front raglan (diagonal edges of sleeve sections) to form the back and fronts of the body in one piece. An easy textured band adds visual interest. For all sizes except XXXL, short rows are worked in the back. Sleeves are worked in the round, and can be worked as short, elbow-length or long sleeves.
Madame Entrechat Fingering Cardigan by Frogginette Knitting Patterns
What Is Being Made
Madame Entrechat Fingering is a knitted cardigan designed by Lisa Chemery of Frogginette Knitting Patterns. This pattern offers both short sleeve and long sleeve options, allowing crafters to create a versatile layering piece suitable for various seasons. The cardigan is available in seven sizes ranging from XS to XXXL, with finished cross-back measurements from 15 inches (38 cm) to 23 inches (58.5 cm), designed to fit bust sizes from 29 inches (73.5 cm) to 53 inches (134.5 cm).
Pattern Design and Fit
This cardigan features a fitted silhouette with little to no positive ease, meaning the finished garment measurements closely match body measurements for a close-fitting wear. The pattern emphasizes proper sizing based on cross-back measurement—the width across the back from the center of one underarm to the center of the other underarm. This approach ensures an accurate fit regardless of overall bust size variation. The pattern includes a detailed measurement diagram for reference before beginning the project.
Yarn and Materials
Madame Entrechat Fingering is designed for 4-ply fingering weight yarn, a lightweight and delicate yarn choice that creates refined drape and stitch definition. The pattern sample shown was knitted in Malabrigo Mechita in the colorway Arequita. Crafters will need appropriate needles for fingering weight yarn, with specific yardage requirements varying based on whether the short sleeve or long sleeve version is being constructed.
Difficulty Level and Techniques
Rated as an intermediate difficulty pattern, Madame Entrechat Fingering is suitable for knitters with foundational skills who are ready to tackle more complex shaping and construction techniques. The intermediate classification suggests the pattern includes elements such as fitted waist shaping, armhole decreases, and potentially stitch pattern work that requires attention to detail and understanding of garment construction principles.
Format and Access
This pattern is available as a downloadable PDF from Frogginette Knitting Patterns, making it immediately accessible for digital viewing and printing. The PDF format allows crafters to reference the pattern on devices or in printed form while working through the project.
