Product Description
This Lighthouse Bottle Bag has a knitted lining to protect your water bottles from dings or bangs on your travels. The little seagull bird charm is tied onto the bag on fishing line, so it can be removed if you need to wash your bag. Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, this pattern is knitted in acrylic DK yarns using both single pointed needles and in the round using a set of DPNs or circular needle for Magic Loop (whichever you prefer). For confident beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and seaming to finish. The lighthouse is 27cm tall x 12cm across, and designed to hold a 500ml water bottle.

What Is Being Made
The Lighthouse Bottle Bag is a knitted bottle caddy designed to hold and protect bottles. This intermediate-level knitting project features a charming lighthouse design, complete with a decorative bird accent. The pattern creates a functional accessory suitable for carrying beverages while adding a whimsical nautical touch to everyday use.
Craft and Primary Technique
This project is created using knitting as the primary craft method. The pattern employs both flat knitting and circular knitting techniques, offering flexibility in construction. Knitters can choose to work with traditional double-pointed needles (DPNs) or use the Magic Loop method with circular needles, making this pattern adaptable to different knitting preferences and skill levels.
Stitches and Construction Methods
While specific stitch abbreviations are not detailed in the pattern excerpt, the intermediate difficulty rating indicates the use of standard knitting stitches combined with colorwork techniques to create the lighthouse motif. The pattern incorporates seaming methods to join pieces together. A 4mm crochet hook is used for seaming, providing an alternative finishing technique. The bird accent requires toy filling or cotton wool for stuffing, and is embellished with two 3mm black beads for eyes, adding dimensional detail to the finished piece.
Yarn and Materials
The Lighthouse Bottle Bag is knitted in 100% acrylic DK weight yarn (double knitting, also known as light worsted weight). You will need less than a 100g skein in each of five shades: Blue, Red, White, Grey, and Black. The sample photographed was created using Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK in the specific shades of Cornflower, Ladybird, White, Light Grey Mix, and Black. Any similar acrylic DK yarn is recommended as a suitable substitute.
