Product Description
A little flared cardi with garter stitch bands worked sideways in one piece. Shaped using short rows and with hardly any sewing, this is a fast and fun knit.
All instructions are given for the Japanese short row method – easy and effective, with no wrapping; plus a 3 needle cast off to make neat seams and an optional provisional cast on.
This cardi uses long-colour-change yarn that is slightly thinner than 8 ply/DK (approx 136 yds/125 m per 50 gms eg Noro Silk Garden Lite or Shiro), for the main part plus a thicker yarn (12 ply - bulky eg Wendy Merino Chunky) for bands and contrast. Please note that using thicker yarn such as Noro Silk Garden (rather than N S G LITE) will make the cardi too big and use more yarn.
Sizes use: Size 1 (0-3 months) 60 gms main yarn; 40 gms contrast; Size 2 (3-6 months) 85 gms main yarn; 50 gms contrast; Size 3 (6-12 months) 110 gms main yarn; 60 gms contrast; Size 4 (1-2 years) 140 gms main yarn; 70 gms contrast.
Btw – Kawaii is Japanese for cute
