Hearthstripe Fingerless Mitts

This enjoyable knit makes a great winter accessory or cherished gift. Perfect for adding extra warmth while keeping fingers free for using your phone, typing, knitting, etc. The color work effect for these mitts is achieved with alternating rounds of 2 different yarn colors and slip stitches that create the vertical lines (this is not stranded color work, you will only ever be working with one strand of yarn at a time). Knitted from the bottom up, magic loop technique is recommended, or use DPNs. The thumb increases and gussets are designed to integrate perfectly with the vertical slip stitch stripe details. The length of the wrist cuff may be easily modified to be shorter or longer according to your preference. This is a great project for minis, single skeins and leftovers since each pair of mitts uses only 27g/120yds yarn. Any fingering or sport weight yarn that meets the pattern gauge may be used. Fits a hand circumference of 7”/18cm and a wrist circumference of 6”/15.5cm.
