Product Description

The Goddess Cardigan is a perfectly over sized and fitted sweater! This elegant cardigan uses a light weight yarn, that combined with the special ribbing technique creates a beautiful drape. The delicate and unique ribbing used for this cardigan is subtle, and yet the main feature in the design.

This sweater is knit in reverse stockinette stitch, and accented beautifully with easy cables.

I have created this pattern to fit over sized. If you are a regular size M/L, make the M/L. The size worn in the photographs is the XS/S. Model is 5’4” with a bust of 32”.

What is Being Made

The Goddess Cardigan is a perfectly-fitted, elegant cardigan sweater designed for comfort and everyday wear. This knitted garment combines lightweight construction with sophisticated shaping, creating a versatile piece suitable for lounging or casual styling. The cardigan features a beautiful drape achieved through thoughtful yarn selection and specialized ribbing techniques, making it an ideal go-to sweater for year-round wear.

Craft and Techniques

This is an intermediate-level knitting project created by independent designer Epiphany Knitwear. The pattern employs specialized ribbing techniques that work in conjunction with the yarn weight to create elegant fabric drape. The cardigan is constructed using circular needles and incorporates shaping throughout for a fitted silhouette. The pattern has been professionally tested and tech edited, ensuring accuracy and clarity for knitters.

Stitches Used

The primary stitch structure is stockinette stitch, which forms the foundation of the garment. The pattern incorporates special ribbing techniques that contribute to the cardigan's distinctive drape and visual appeal. Cable needle work is also part of the construction, adding textural interest to the design.

Materials and Tools Required

  • Yarn: 8–10 skeins of Cascade Heritage Silk Yarn in color Snow (5618), with each skein containing 400m/437 yards per 100g/3.5oz. Yardage varies by size: XS/S requires 8 skeins, M/L requires 9 skeins, and XL/XXL requires 10 skeins. This 4-ply yarn weight provides the lightweight quality essential to the cardigan's elegant drape.
  • Needles: One pair of size 3.25mm (US 3) circular needles measuring 86cm (34"), and one pair of size 2.25mm (US 1) circular needles measuring either 120cm (48") or 150cm (60").
  • Additional Tools: Cable needle, stitch markers, stitch holder, large eye tapestry needle, scissors, measuring tape, two pieces of long scrap yarn in contrasting colors, and an optional row counter.

Gauge and Specifications

The pattern establishes a gauge of 30 stitches and 38 rows equaling 10cm x 10cm (4 inches x 4 inches) in stockinette stitch after blocking. Achieving proper gauge is essential for obtaining the correct finished measurements and fit of this intermediate cardigan.
