Inspired by the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, this shawl offers the opportunity to play with knitting directions, patterns, and colours.
Once finished, you will have a unique and beautiful shawl!
The construction of the Frida shawl is perfect for people who don’t like to cast on a lot of stitches. Frida combines garter stitch with lace and uses three colours of a fingering-weight yarn combined with a Kidsilk lace-weight.
Yarn choiceIf you substitute yarns A-C, make sure you use springy yarn. I recommend avoiding silk or cotton for these yarns.
If you don’t like to work with Kidsilk, you can substitute it with a fingering-weight yarn. Be aware that you will need more yarn if you substitute YD with fingering weight (around 60 g / 180 m / 197 yards).
