Fair Isle Windmill Mittens

Fair Isle colorwork crochet creates a knit look. The mittens are entirely crocheted, except the red/cream example. The pattern includes three crochet cuff options as well as one knitted cuff option, because it isn't confusing enough that the fair isle crochet looks knitted. :P

The red/cream example mittens show the knitted cuff option and includes an optional knitted Latvian Braid. The purple/grey example mittens include an optional crocheted Latvian Braid with a crocheted cuff.

These mittens come in one medium size, but other sizes can be created by using a smaller or larger hook and/or yarn.

YARN:

Any fingering weight yarn will work.

The examples are made using Avalon Springs Farm Pendragon and Forbidden Fiber Co. Fortitude.

YARDAGE (per mitten pair):

Main color - approximately 250 yds

Contrast color - approximately 180 yds

GAUGE:

1” x 1” - 6 split single crochet stitches by 6 rows worked in the round
