Product Description
This beanie is a project made from Fair Isle Graphs for the Fair Isle Tea Cosy. After I had made the Tea Cosy I thought it would make a great hat so I did the calculations for a ladies beanie to see if it would come anywhere near matching the correct stitch count. The Fair Isle graphs were 30sts and 6sts repeats. So I would need to use a multiples of those stitches to make it work. An 8ply ladies beanie needs 121stitches for the body to make it fit the average woman’s head when knitted in 8 ply. I we use the tension guide of 22sts to 10cm. and consider that a beanie will need to have a 56cm diameter when stretched slightly. So luck was with me on this occasion and I was able to use the first and second of the graphs from the tea cosy to feature in my Winter Ladies Fair Isle beanie. I changed the colour scheme and you can see that it gives the panels quite a different look. If greens and blues are not your thing then choose a colour scheme to suit your Winter look.
