Here's the toy version of my dog teacosy, so that everyone can play with him! You can make him in two versions – sitting down or standing. He's super-cute and cuddly and fun to make.
He takes under 100 gms of 8 ply / DK yarn in the main colour and less than 20 gms of contrast colour yarn for ears and tail. As this pattern uses sew-on eyes, please don't make him for children under 3, unless you give him safety eyes or embroider them instead.
This is a downloadable knitting pattern for a stuffed toy dog designed by Rian Anderson. The finished toy dog measures 23 centimeters in height to the top of the head and 24 centimeters in length end to end when standing. The pattern offers flexibility in the final appearance, as the toy dog can be constructed in either a sitting or standing position depending on how the pieces are sewn together during assembly.
The toy dog pattern uses 8 ply/DK weight yarn throughout. The main color requires 100 grams, while contrast color yarn for the ears and tail requires 20 grams. A small amount of black 8 ply/DK yarn is needed for the nose detail. The pattern also calls for dacron toy filling to stuff the completed pieces, one pair of 25 millimeter joggle toy eyes (or safety eyes recommended for toys intended for children under 3 years old), and a large tapestry needle for sewing seams during assembly.
Two pairs of knitting needles are required to complete this project. A pair of 5.5 millimeter needles (US size 9) is used for the main knitting, while a pair of 4.5 millimeter needles (US size 7) is used for other components. A large tapestry needle is essential for sewing the seams and joining the finished pieces together.
This intermediate-level knitting pattern uses fundamental knitting techniques and stitches. The primary stitch used is the knit stitch. The pattern employs two different cast-on methods: the knitted method, which involves placing the right needle into the stitch, knitting a stitch, and transferring the stitch to the left needle; and the cable method, which involves placing the right needle between the last two stitches to make the next stitch instead of into the stitch as if to knit. The pattern notes that stitch count is important for achieving the correct finished size, and adjustments to needle size may be necessary if too many stitches are cast on.
All pieces of the toy dog are knitted using the same techniques. Once all components are complete, they are assembled by sewing them together with the tapestry needle. The flexibility to create either a sitting or standing dog is achieved through the choices made during the sewing and assembly phase, allowing crafters to customize the final pose of their finished toy.

good looking dog. stitching was a little tricky in the small parts for a 93 year old lady, but got there in the end.
