What is Being Made

This is a decorative knitted tea cosy designed to fit a standard 6-cup teapot. The design mimics the appearance of a cupcake, featuring a ribbed base that resembles a cupcake wrapper, a white frosting layer, and chocolate-colored details with embellishments. The tea cosy is constructed from two matching sides that are joined together to create a three-dimensional covering for the teapot spout and body.

This project is created using knitting as the primary craft method. The design combines multiple knitting techniques to achieve its cupcake appearance, with an optional crochet element for finishing details. The intermediate difficulty level makes this project suitable for knitters who have mastered basic techniques and are ready to work with shaping and color changes.

Stitches and Techniques Used

• 2x2 Rib – Creates the textured base of the tea cosy, alternating knit and purl stitches in a 2-stitch pattern across 24 rows to form the cupcake wrapper effect

Construction Method
