50 yds (#4) medium weight yarn (I used “I Love This Cotton”)

Knitting Needles Size US 5 (3.75 mm)

Gauge: 20 stitches x 34 rows = 4" (10 cm) in stockinette stitch

If you love cables, but have never tried making something with them before, this is the perfect first cable pattern for you! It’s a great way to try out this fun way to knit. You’ll learn the simplest 1 x 1 cable first, and practice it a bit in the first pattern. Then you’ll advance to a 2 x 2 cable in the second coaster pattern.

Building on those first two coaster patterns, in the third pattern, you’ll learn another way to twist the 1 x 1 cable. And in the last pattern you’ll have fun making a braided cable using a second way to twist the 2 x 2 cable which you learned in the second pattern.
