Color Swirl Shawl

The shape of this shawl is a large semi-circle. It is created by gradually adding stitches to your needles until you get to the center, and then gradually decreasing your stitches. By the completion of this shawl, your first row and your last row will line up creating the long straight edge of the semi-circle. Blocking the shawl will straighten and even out the edge. The shawl is created by working “short rows” using the “wrap & turn” method. The explanation for the “wrap & turn” technique is in the pattern itself. The short rows are what create the circular shape. You can choose for yourself what type of color combinations you want to use. This pattern works well with color fades and variegated yarns, but it also can be very striking to knit it up using solid, contrasting colors. I do recommend using at least 2 different colors to make the short row pattern “pop” out.
