THIS IS A LOOP YARN FINGER-KNITTING PATTERN. The Chunky Celtic Cable Saxon Braid blanket is a mixed pattern of cables of different sizes with a centre pattern of a repeating Saxon braid. The Saxon braid is a common feature and centrepiece of Irish Aran knitting. Irish Aran knitting patterns have a long and rich history, originating in the Aran Islands, off the west coast of Ireland. Most commonly seen in sweaters, I have replicated those patterns here in blanket form.
