Chasing Rainbows Basket

Colorful urn shaped basket (wider in the middle) was inspired by rainbows and mandalas. I wanted to create a basket pattern that utilizes stitches of different heights, shapes and colors for pattern effect, much the way a mandala does, but in a three dimensional shape rather than a flat piece. What resulted was this petite basket whose unusual shape and unique combinations of colors and stitches creates endless interest. It's a fun pattern and works up fairly quickly.

It's listed as intermediate due to shaping, working in the round, color changes and multiple stitches used. However, an advanced beginner might find it to a fun way to learn how to do more stitches. The experienced crochet enthusiast will enjoy the variety of stitches as well.

I used Red Heart Super Saver in 7 colors: Buff, Gold, Tea Leaf (Green), Cherry Red, Blue Suede, Carrot, Medium Purple. You won't need anywhere near the 7 full skeins - it's a great stash buster project!
