Product Description

This is a corner to corner crochet version of my Letter M chart, this version includes a c2c picture chart and a colour-coded written version for those who prefer to follow worded instructions. I have also included a "how to corner to corner crochet" guide for those who might not have crocheted an image. The guide also has a border option for those who may want to add a decorative edge to their finished blanket.

The finished blanket will be a different size depending on the yarn you use (using 4ply gives you a lovely baby blanket size)

Sizes - 4ply: 60x70cm, DK: 80x90 cm, Aran: 90x100cm, Chunky: 100x110cm

C2C Letter M Corner to Corner Blanket

Project Overview

This is a corner to corner crochet blanket featuring the letter M as a focal design element. The pattern uses the C2C (corner to corner) technique, a popular method for creating graphical designs in crochet. The finished blanket displays the letter M in contrasting colors against a background, making it an ideal personalized or decorative throw for any room.

Crochet Technique: Corner to Corner (C2C)

Corner to corner crochet is a specialized technique that builds a project diagonally from one corner to the opposite corner. This method is particularly effective for creating pixel-based graphical designs and allows crafters to follow a chart systematically as they work. The technique produces a dense, structured fabric with excellent stitch definition, making it ideal for displaying detailed letter forms and color patterns.

The C2C method works by creating small blocks of stitches that correspond to squares on a chart. As you progress diagonally across your work, each block is built upon the previous one, gradually expanding the blanket until the full design is complete. This approach makes it easier to track your progress and adjust colors at precise points in the pattern.

Stitches and Construction

While specific stitch details are indicated through the numbered chart provided, corner to corner crochet typically employs double crochet stitches worked in small clusters or blocks. The chart uses a grid system (numbered 1–82 horizontally and 1–82 vertically) to guide color placement and stitch positioning. This structured approach ensures accurate reproduction of the letter M design.

Materials and Specifications

Yarn Weight: DK (double knit) weight yarn is used for this project, providing a balanced fabric weight that is neither too heavy nor too delicate. DK yarn creates a medium-density finished blanket suitable for draping and display.

Color Palette: The pattern uses White and Meadow as the primary colors, creating clear contrast between the letter M and the background. These colors are referenced with yarn codes 732 and 984 respectively.

Tools Required: An appropriately sized crochet hook for DK weight yarn is needed to execute this pattern. The specific hook size should be selected based on your desired finished dimensions and personal tension.

Difficulty Level

This pattern is rated as intermediate difficulty. While the corner to corner technique itself is learnable for those with basic crochet knowledge, managing color changes, following a detailed chart, and maintaining consistent tension across an 82×82 grid requires practice and attention to detail. Crafters should be comfortable with fundamental crochet stitches and color work before beginning this project.

Pattern Format and Designer

This is a downloadable PDF pattern created by designer EJHeywood under the brand Instarsia. The pattern is protected by copyright and intended for non-commercial personal use only. The designer notes that Instarsia charts are interchangeable and can be adapted for both knitting and crochet projects, offering versatility beyond the corner to corner method.

Versatility and Customization

The letter M design makes this blanket suitable for personalization—ideal as a gift for someone whose name begins with M or as a monogrammed home décor piece. The chart format allows crafters to adjust the finished size by using different yarn weights or hook sizes, or to modify the color scheme to match their décor preferences.
