Product Description
This is a pattern for a Cuddly Teddybear. She is so soft and squishy and her arms and legs are moveable. She would make a super cute addition to a child’s room. I named her BlueBearie because of the yarn I chose, but it would be sweet in any colour.
You will need the following to complete your project:
Premier yarns Parfait: Blackberry (65 grams) 5mm crochet hook 1 pair of 12mm Black safety eyes
32mm Black Triangle nose
1 set of 20mm doll joints
T-Pins used to hold your pieces together before sewing Polyester stuffing Stitch markers Tapestry needle
The usual copyright conditions apply and yes you can sell your finished items :)
This pattern would be best suited to an advanced beginner. You will need to have experience with working in the round, assembling amigurumi pieces together and using doll joints.
I hope you enjoy your new pattern and as always if you have any questions I am just an email away :)
BlueBearie Amigurumi Toy by Lisa Kingsley
What Is Being Made
BlueBearie is a crocheted amigurumi toy designed by independent designer Lisa Kingsley. This stuffed bear measures approximately 8 inches tall while sitting, including the ears, making it a compact and cuddly handmade plush toy suitable for display or as a gift.
Craft and Primary Technique
This project uses crochet as the primary craft method. The pattern is written in standard US crochet terminology and is classified as an intermediate difficulty level, meaning it requires foundational crochet knowledge but includes techniques that build skills.
Crochet Stitches and Construction Methods
BlueBearie employs several essential crochet stitches and techniques:
- Single Crochet (sc) — the primary stitch used throughout the body and limbs
- Increases (2sc) — two single crochet stitches worked into one stitch to expand sections
- Decreases (sc2tog) — turning two single crochet stitches into one to shape and reduce stitches
- Magic Ring (MR) — a foundation technique for starting projects worked in the round
- Continuous Spiral — the bear is worked in continuous rounds without joining, with a stitch marker placed at the beginning of each round and moved up as rounds are completed
This construction method creates seamless, three-dimensional shaping ideal for amigurumi toys.
Materials and Tools
The pattern calls for super chunky yarn weight, specifically Premier Yarns Parfait in the Blackberry colorway (65 grams). A 5mm crochet hook is used to work with this yarn weight. The toy is finished with 12mm black safety eyes for facial features. Doll joints are also used to allow limbs to move freely; the pattern notes that joints should be fastened until one click is heard to ensure secure attachment while maintaining limb mobility.
Pattern Notes and Construction Guidance
The pattern includes helpful guidance for successful completion. Crafters are advised to read through the entire pattern before beginning. Since the bear is worked in a continuous spiral rather than joined rounds, a stitch marker is essential for tracking round progression. The designer emphasizes careful attention to joint fastening to achieve the proper balance between security and movement in the finished toy.
