Athena Owl Stocking

**Athena Owl Stocking was inspired by vintage macrame owl designs. A decorative wing lays over the side of the stocking, adding dimension to the simple half-double crochet texture. The front of the stocking can be decorated with feather-like shell stitches, worked directly into the fabric, or with embroidery and beads. A crab stitch trim covers the edges along the top and the side of the wing for a more finished look. A crochet i-cord loop is attached to the inside of the stocking, ready to decorate any mantlepiece!**Instructions are written in US crochet terms with step-by-step photos.

When made with Aran weight yarn (sample 1 made in Yarn and Colors Epic) and 4.5mm hook the finished stocking will measure about 35cm/14in long and 15cm/6in wide.

When made with DK weight yarn (sample 2 made in Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK) and 3.5mm hook the finished stocking will measure about 25cm/10in long and 12.5cm/5in wide.
