Product Description
This long, triangular shawl is shaped by inserting stockinette stitch stripes into the body of the shawl. The shape of the shawl is a right triangle - start knitting at the point and keep going until you finish the chart. The i-cord edge is knit along with the body of the shawl, so there is no picking up or seaming at the end.
There is only one size to this shawl - 76" long x 25" wide; however, the size can be adjusted by changing yarn or needle size.
The gauge is not overly important. When designing, I wanted the fabric to be somewhat open, hence the choice of a US10/6mm needle.
The original version of the shawl was knit in Hazel Knits Lively DK (90% Merino, 10% Nylon; 275 yards). I used approximately 1.75 skeins. Any DK weight or light worsted weight yarn should work well with this pattern; you will need between 440 & 550 yards.
Note - there are two downloads with this pattern when purchasing off of Ravelry. The first is the pattern itself. The second is the chart. Th
At a Slant Shawl by 3 Kittens Needle Arts
What is Being Made
The At a Slant Shawl is a knitted shawl design created by independent designer 3 Kittens Needle Arts. This project is ideal for knitters seeking a downloadable pattern that produces a finished garment suitable for layering and everyday wear.
Knitting Techniques
This shawl pattern employs fundamental knitting techniques that build progressively through the pattern rows. The construction method uses a systematic approach with repeating pattern sequences, allowing knitters to establish rhythm and consistency throughout the project. The pattern demonstrates structured increases and stitch manipulation across multiple rows, creating the characteristic slanted shaping that defines the design.
Stitches and Stitch Patterns
The At a Slant Shawl incorporates basic knit stitches combined with strategic increases to achieve its distinctive angled silhouette. The pattern utilizes repeating stitch sequences worked across numerous rows, with markers indicating pattern repeats and directional changes. The use of increases at regular intervals creates the slant effect, while the structured row-by-row progression ensures even shaping and professional finishing.
Materials
Knitters will require knitting needles and yarn appropriate to their chosen gauge and finished size. The pattern is provided as a downloadable PDF format, making it accessible for immediate use once purchased. Specific yardage requirements and needle size recommendations are included within the pattern documentation to guide material selection.
