What is Being Made

The Aran Cable Cowl is a knitted neck accessory designed by The Design Studio. Knitting Techniques Used

This project employs classic Aran cable knitting techniques to create its distinctive textured appearance. The primary technique featured is the C8F (Cable 8 Front) stitch, which involves slipping stitches onto a cable needle, holding them at the front of the work, knitting stitches from the left-hand needle, and then knitting the held stitches from the cable needle. This creates the signature twisted, rope-like cables that define Aran knitwear. The pattern alternates cable sections with reverse stockinette stitch (purl stitches) to allow the cables to stand out prominently against a recessed background.
