A baby swing jacket to fit your newborn. This jacket is knitted nearly seamlessly from the top down and fully flat, so it can be easily knitted on either circulars and straight needles. A very simple stockinette pattern, enlivened with an easy textured patterned down the front and made more interesting with a couple of hidden reverse stockinette side gussets that widen gradually the jacket making it more comfortable to wear while not adding too much bulk. The jacket is unisex, with female and male front options. I always like it best to knit my baby garments in gender-neutral colors, skipping pink and light blue in favor is yellow, green, or white. Also, consider working your baby garments in really bright colors like red and blue: really young children tend to see much easier the bright colors rather than the pastel ones. This mean that a brightly colored garment will catch the baby’s attention and keep him or her slightly more entertained.
