The Simple Cable Mittens are perfect to keep the chill out when the temperature drops. Quick and easy to knit, they are ideal for gift knitting as their stretchiness ensures a comfortable fit without too much measurement. The ribbing draws the material together to provide more insulation than a single layer of knit fabric, while the cable detail adds interest to what is otherwise simple, comfortable knitting. You’ll find it hard to stop after one pair!
Notes:
You can adjust the length of the mittens both before and after the thumb gusset is worked.
If you like a snug wrist cuff, you can cast on and knit using smaller needles (4.5mm DPNs or circular needle (US 7) is suggested). After completing the cable instructions, switch to larger needles for the rest of the mitten.
Both mittens are identical (without Left/Right shaping).
You can increase the size range easily, as the pattern is worked on a 8-stitch repeat. Cast on 8 sts more or less (or multiples of 8) for a larger or smaller size.
