Craft and Technique

While this design is categorized within knitting accessories, the primary construction method is braiding rather than traditional knitting needles. The technique involves cutting yarn into multiple strands of equal length, grouping them together, and braiding them in three sections until approaching the end of the strands. This approach creates a dimensional, textured accessory without requiring knitting needles or hooks.

The braiding method is executed by holding all yarn strands together, securing them to a fixed point such as a chair back or door handle, dividing the combined strands into three groups, and then braiding softly and loosely. Large knots are tied at both ends of the finished braid, with excess trimmed away. The finished length is approximately half the starting length due to the compression that occurs during the braiding process.

Materials and Yarn

The primary yarn used is Plymouth Encore Mega, with one 100-gram ball required in any color choice. This yarn is cut into multiple strands measuring 3 to 3.5 yards each, yielding approximately 15 to 20 strands from a single ball.
