Product Description
Brew a cup and sit down for a quiet moment for yourself. Lime Chamraj is named after a variety of lime-scented green tea. It is zesty, zingy, refreshing… yet soothing as its namesake.
Lime Chamraj is an asymmetrical crescent-shaped shawl made of garter stitch and simple eyelet lace. Alternating sections of eyelets and garter-stitch wedges shaped with short rows make both relaxing and stimulating knitting. The sweeping garter-stitch sections give an unusual shape to the shawl.
This pattern is written with both metric and US terminology. Both written and charted instructions are given for the eyelet pattern.
Gauge: 20 sts × 40 rows (20 garter ridges) = 10 cm / 4" in garter stitch, blocked

Lime Chamraj Knitted Shawl by Susanna Winter
What is Being Made
Lime Chamraj is an asymmetrical crescent-shaped shawl designed by Susanna Winter. Named after a variety of lime-scented green tea, this shawl combines zesty and refreshing aesthetics with soothing qualities. The finished shawl measures approximately 175 cm (5'9") in wingspan and 40 cm (15¾") in depth, making it a generous accessory suitable for wrapping and layering.
Knitting Techniques
This intermediate-level knitting pattern employs several key techniques to create its distinctive shape and visual interest. The construction alternates between sections of garter stitch and simple eyelet lace, with short rows used to shape wedges throughout the design. The sweeping garter-stitch sections create an unusual and elegant silhouette characteristic of crescent-shaped shawls. Short-row shaping allows knitters to add depth and dimension while maintaining the asymmetrical crescent form.
Stitches Used
- Garter stitch: Forms the primary structural sections of the shawl, creating a textured, reversible fabric
- Eyelet lace: Simple lace patterns alternate with garter-stitch wedges to add visual interest and openwork detail
- Short rows: Used throughout to shape the wedges and create the crescent silhouette
Materials and Yarn
Lime Chamraj is designed to be knitted with 4-ply yarn at fingering weight. The pattern sample uses Isager Tweed, a premium yarn blend consisting of 70% wool and 30% mohair with a yardage of 200 meters per 50-gram skein. Three skeins are required to complete the shawl. The sample shown is knitted in the Lime colorway. The pattern is written with both metric and US terminology to accommodate international knitters.
Pattern Format and Instructions
This downloadable PDF pattern provides comprehensive instructions for knitters of intermediate skill level. Both written and charted instructions are included for the eyelet pattern, allowing knitters to follow their preferred method. The dual-format approach makes the pattern accessible whether knitters prefer reading written directions or working from visual stitch charts.
