What is Being Made

Lime Chamraj is an asymmetrical crescent-shaped shawl designed by Susanna Winter. Named after a variety of lime-scented green tea, this shawl combines zesty and refreshing aesthetics with soothing qualities. The finished shawl measures approximately 175 cm (5'9") in wingspan and 40 cm (15¾") in depth, making it a generous accessory suitable for wrapping and layering.

Knitting Techniques

This intermediate-level knitting pattern employs several key techniques to create its distinctive shape and visual interest. The construction alternates between sections of garter stitch and simple eyelet lace, with short rows used to shape wedges throughout the design. The sweeping garter-stitch sections create an unusual and elegant silhouette characteristic of crescent-shaped shawls. Short-row shaping allows knitters to add depth and dimension while maintaining the asymmetrical crescent form.

Materials and Yarn

The pattern sample uses Isager Tweed, a premium yarn blend consisting of 70% wool and 30% mohair with a yardage of 200 meters per 50-gram skein. Three skeins are required to complete the shawl. The sample shown is knitted in the Lime colorway. The pattern is written with both metric and US terminology to accommodate international knitters.
